Claire Dorfman is the Assistant Director of the Mexico Documentation Project, which seeks to obtain declassified US and other government records concerning US policy in Mexico and US-Mexico relations, with an emphasis on issues related to security, migration, the drug war, democracy, and human rights.
Her research covers human rights and anti-corruption efforts in Latin America that span the "dirty wars" of the Cold War to contemporary "drug war" security policies in the region. Prior to joining the Archive, she worked as an archivist, researcher, and translator in New York, Mexico City, and Buenos Aires. Claire is a contributor to Legacy of Lies, a book of photographs and essays from the civil war in El Salvador by Time photojournalist Robert Nickelsberg.
