Similar to all previous ATA’s released under the first Trump administration, the 2019 Worldwide Threat Assessment maintains its sections dedicated to threats to human security, the environment, and climate change. (pp. 21-23) In addition to the report’s commentary on global environmental and ecological degradation, irreversible damage to ecosystems, and extreme weather events worsened by sea level rise (p. 23), the report also discusses increased competition in the Arctic due to diminishing polar sea ice.
