One of the National Security Archive's core missions is to disseminate historically valuable and previously unavailable U.S. government documentation to a global audience. Our publications draw primarily on records broken loose under the Freedom of Information Act and are edited by acknowledged subject experts. (See our Postings page for hundreds of free-access, online document compilations.)
Books
Archive staff and fellows regularly produce document compilations and monographs through major print publishers. Our publications list includes winners of the Pulitzer Prize, National Book Award, Bancroft Prize and Douglas Dillon Award, among others.
Digital National Security Archive (DNSA)
Available in the world’s leading academic libraries, the subscription-based DNSA is a curated series consisting of over 750,000 pages of declassified U.S. government records critical to understanding the history of U.S. foreign policymaking in the 20th and 21st centuries. Two new collections, edited by Archive staff and fellows, and indexed by professional librarians, appear each year. Consult your university or public library to find out if they subscribe.
